The Cosmic Footprint, Or, Who Even Cares, Anyway?

Well heaps of fascinating times me compadres. I've pretty much been waiting to blog, or really communicate at all, until I got happy again, so here I am because, ITS FRIDAY! And everyone knows that Evan is happy on Fridays. Besides last Friday, that is, that was not an all good time for me. But anyway, although there's loads of The City of God by Augustine that I have been reading and have to read, I'm really lovin' it. He has a few ideas that seem kind of bizarre, but they really make sense when you think about them hard enough, or at least they do for me. Caleb and Andrew seem confused, and bored. But of course, they aren't philosophers, they actually have practical, down to earth minds and don't worry much about the more obscure questions in life,(I wish I was like that now and then, life would hurt so much less) they leave those to me. Anyway, there were three things that Augustine has been talking about that I thought especially interesting.
1.The creation of angels and subsiquent casting out of those who fell. I'd always been a little puzzled about where the angels came in, I mean, they have a pretty large part in God's plans don't they? But Augustine suggests something I had never thought of before. The Bible says that God created light on the first day, but its not until the fourth day that the sun and the moon and the stars were made. Well, surprisingly enough, I hadn't given that much thought, howeva, Augustine suggests that that light was the angels, and when He seperated the light from the darkness He was casting out the fallen angels. Augustine suggests, and (although I was to sissy to plainly admit it in class) I follow his logic and agree, that the demons fell as soon as they were created, and that they were predestined to do so. Now this is not a creation of imperfection by God, they were created perfect, but they fell almost immediatly after because of they're lack of foresight and understanding. Now, if anyone wants to duke out the whole predestination thing, which I am only being consistent on when (along with Augustine) I extrapolite it to the angels, comment about it on my xanga (which I'm wanting to become a sort of philosophy discussion group to hammer out life's problems, most of which won't be doctrinal issues) and we'll talk about it there, cause I don't really want to get into it here on my nice clean blogspot blog ( I don't care about my xanga, its there to get messy, peon site). But anyway, all of that came as a new thing, but it really makes sense. I mean, the angels have a big part in God's plans and the creation week should indeed include their creation, after all, the angels must have had a beginning since they are not God and the creation week is the time that God did His creating.
And what is light but goodness, and there isn't some mystical universal "goodness" floating around, so that light reasonably should have bodies in a sense, and what are bodies of pure goodness that have been created but angels, so the creation of angels being spoken of as the creation of light is reasonable to me.
Wow that was long and that was only number one, so I'll just skip number three and go straight to 2.
2. The Cosmic Footprint. Jesus is begotten by God the Father, and yet, He still had no beginning. The way Plato explains it is this. If there's an eternal foot that stands eternally, and has always stood there, there is a footprint underneath that has been made by the foot, but since the foot has stood there for all eternity then the footprint has always been there, and the footprint did not come after the foot. And so is Christ, He was begotten by the Father, but He is fully co-eternal, He had no beginning.
Ok, anyway, I'll never post anything like this here again. That was really boring, but maybe if anyone's interested we can have exciting philisophical discussions on my xanga.
Caleb and I had a neat conversation today after class today, yo Caleb your the awsomest! Many discussions of many things, its cool to have somebody you can talk to about anything and everything. And umhm so anyways, we had a happy time tonight. Jordan and Ever and Karin and Emily came over and we had happy times. Sadness did come however in the form of Stephen wacking is head against the piano bench and getting a huge bloody hole in his noggin, but he's ok, so its all happy. So we still got to enjoy watching Jordan and Ever stand next to the electric fence giggling nervously, then reaching out and zapping themselves and howling in pain. It was hillarious. You can tell they're in college, being smart like that. Also I spilled chocolate on everybody, so it was cool. So now, since your bored out of your mind, I will come to an end,
taTa

the foot print analogy is interesting. actually seems kind of strange. i think i'm on it, but it seems a bit peculiar. i liked the way you said you would skip #3 and go straight to #2, as if you were passing over something.

i thought you poetic license with ever's and my howling was a good idea too. makes it much more dramatic.

I had the exact same thought about skipping #3. :-) Okay, my insignificant thought is that you shouldn't waste time wishing you were Caleb! No offense, Caleb, really. Here is the story of your creation; not exact, but close. God looked down and created two people. One of them he instilled with a great love for fantasy tales and bagpipes. Then he smiled and thought something like "He will be called Caleb, and this is good." Then he created the other. He made the second tall as well, but his hair was red. He made him made a philosopher, a poet, prone to accidents (sorry! I couldn't help myself!) quite different then Caleb the First, but very special, with a perfect plan for the second's special life. Then he thought "This is a very special boy. His name is Evan! Now, these two boys will someday grow up to be men. They shall walk together and be great friends, each with their own unique lives." Now why in the world would you want to be Caleb? You are EVAN!!!!! No one who knew you could live without you. Don't wish yourself away!

:)You're funny Leighanne, I never said that I wanted to be Caleb. I only said sometimes I think it would be nice to not be constantly worried about deep and obscure things all the time. Sooo yeah, although I appreciate your concern, I have no desire to be anyone else and, although I have at rare times(unfortunately) envied other people their coolness, I have never desired to BE them. So, "Cradle your head in your hands and breathe, just breathe"

And one other thing, I love fantasy tales and bagpipes too, there is SOO much more to Caleb then that.

Yeah, but you were doing most of the listening, which is much harder, in my opinion

*takes several deep breaths* You missed it! That wasn't the point! Of course there's more to Caleb then bagpipes and fantasy tales! I was trying to get a rough image, THAT'S ALL! I couldn't sit down and name every attribute, characteristic, preference, and similarity between you and him. GOSH!!! Caleb, no one could think you're shallow. Evan, no one could think You spent you're whole life wishing away who you were! Grrrrr. The point was, you're both cool and Evan is special. Evan is still special when he wishes...AT TIMES...that he was somebody else.

Grrrr

You'd better post agains soon.

Links are much improved.

I told myself and Bree that too. I'm dreadfully sorry, I really REALLY wanted and needed you there; instead I resorted to the patent "make a fool out of myself" strategy in the time of deepest stress, so it wasn't that great. In other words, I'm grumpier about it then you are. I'll talk to you more about it tomorrow.

And I'm grumpier than both of you put together!

Wish you guys could've come Caleb.
